Urgent: Breakfast Community Water Pump Replacement
The Breakfast Community in North Matabeleland, Zimbabwe, urgently needs your help to repair their vital community water well. A recent lightning strike has damaged the solar-powered control system that makes this essential water source accessible to hundreds of families.
The Situation
In December 2024, lightning struck and damaged the control box and pump system of our community’s primary water well. This well is a lifeline for the Breakfast Community, serving as one of only two water sources in the area. Without it, families must walk 2-3 kilometers to reach the river—a journey that becomes increasingly dangerous as we approach the dry season.
Why This Matters Now
Time is critical. In just one month, the river—our only alternative water source—will stop flowing. When this happens, families will be forced to rely on standing water, putting our students and their families at serious risk of waterborne illnesses.
The Solution
We need to raise $1,000 to:
- Replace the damaged control box and pump
- Cover installation costs
- Restore immediate access to clean water
While labor costs in Zimbabwe are modest, the specialized equipment must be imported, driving up the total cost. However, every dollar contributed goes directly to restoring this essential service for our community.
Your Impact
Your donation will:
- Restore clean water access for hundreds of families
- Prevent the spread of waterborne diseases
- Save families hours of daily walking to collect water
- Ensure children can stay healthy and focused on their education
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to restoring this vital water source. Please help us protect our community’s health and well-being by supporting this urgent repair.
